Finally Updated to Drupal 6

It has been a long time coming, mainly because I run several Drupal sites under one multi-site, and had to update the main install first, but I have finally updated the site to Drupal 6. Drupal 5 is basically out of date at this point, as community development on Drupal 7 is already in the works. There are some basic enhancements that have been made to Drupal 6 that make it a much better CMS, right out of the box so to speak.

As you can see, I decided to change the theme of the site, this is because there are a ton of great Drupal 6 themes out there, that take advantage of some of the new features in Drupal 6. Creating Drupal themes in Drupal 6 is also supposed to be much easier given some of the changes that were made to the Drupal core, so we could be seeing many more designers creating better themes. I might be trying some different themes here and there, just to see how they fit the overall look I am going for on the site. I think I like this one for now though, and I will stick with it until I find something else I like better.

Aside from some great themes, there are also some great Drupal 6 modules out there. Some of these you just can't get in Drupal 5. This is another main reason that I switched to Drupal 6. This is because the development community as a whole is not paying much attention to developing new Drupal 5 modules, or maintaining the old ones as well anymore.

I still have several other sites to switch over to Drupal 6, and I will be getting to them soon hopefully. I can't wait to have all of my sites running on Drupal 6 because I will finally be able to run all of my Drupal sites under one multi-site instead of having a Drupal 5 multi-site and a Drupal 6 multi-site. If you don't know what a Drupal multi-site is, stay tuned to find out how you can have use one set of Drupal installation files, for as many sites as you want to run.
